As the result of a corporate buy out, GE Capital MasterCard has been replaced by American Express as Michigan State University's corporate travel card vendor.
Some of the benefits of the corporate travel card program with American Express include:

- ATM access for cash while in travel status

- Insurance coverage
- $500,000 Travel Accident Insurance
- $5,000 Baggage Insurance
- Full primary collision and loss damage insurance on car rentals
- Retail Purchase Protection (secondary coverage up to $50,000 per card annually)
- Master assist medical protection
- Customized card showing MSU affiliation to enhance employee identification and tax savings
- Master Trip Travel Assistance
- 24 hour emergency card replacement
Any MSU employee who travels on MSU business is encouraged to obtain and use the card for payment of his or her travel expenditures. The card is only intended for Michigan State University business travel.
